Majo and Fatima arrived in Rome 20 years ago fleeing the siege of Sarajevo. She is a beautiful Christian woman nearing 50. He is Muslim and has already passed 50. The fragile equilibrium that they have built over the years is shattered by the news of Majo's father's death, which obliges them to revisit their tortured past.
Vincenzo Marra was born in Naples in 1972. His debut feature length film, Tornando a casa (Sailing Home, 2001) won the Best Film Award at the International Critics’ Week of the Venice International Film Festival. Vento di terra (2004) won the Special Mention of the Jury at the Venice Film Festival in the Orizzonti section and the Film Revelation of the Year award in the Critics’ Week section at Cannes. He also wrote, directed and produced the documentaries Estranei alla massa (2002), Paesaggio a Sud (2003), L’udienza è aperta (2006), Il grande progetto (2008) and Il gemello (2012).
Milan-based MIR Cinematografica was founded in 2005.
In 2012, Tutto Parla Di Te (All About You) by Alina Marazzi starring Charlotte Rampling was awarded the Camera d'Oro at Rome International Film Festival. In the same year the creative documentary Noi Non Siamo Come James Bond (We Are Nothing Like James Bond) by Mario Balsamo was awarded the Jury Grand Prix at Torino Film Festival. In recent years, MIR's productions were selected for a number of international film festivals including Cannes, Venezia, Locarno, IDFA and it's the first Italian company awarded a Focal Award, the British award for theatrically released documentaries.
