Leonardo Di Costanzo

World War One. In a trench carved out of the rock of Mount Pasubio a small platoon of Italian soldiers, little more than boys, is holed up, each one with his own dialect, each one with a different story.

Their mission is to recapture an outpost a few hundred meters away but an enemy sniper picks off each soldier who tried to approach one by one. The conviction that they are going off

to meet their certain deaths spreads panic among the young soldiers.

Leonardo di Costanzo


Leonardo di Costanzo was born in Ischia in 1958. He lives in Naples and Paris, where he teaches at the prestigious Atelier Varans. He has directed various documentaries, presented and winning awards at top international film festivals: Prove di stato (1998), A Scuola (2003), Odessa (2006, directed with Bruno Oliviero), Cadenza d’inganno (2011). In 2012 he directed his first fiction feature film L'intervallo, premiered at the 69° Venice Film Festival.



MIR Cinematografica


Milan-based MIR Cinematografica was founded in 2005.

In 2012, Tutto Parla Di Te (All About You) by Alina Marazzi starring Charlotte Rampling was awarded the Camera d'Oro at Rome International Film Festival. In the same year the creative documentary Noi Non Siamo Come James Bond (We Are Nothing Like James Bond) by Mario Balsamo was awarded the Jury Grand Prix at Torino Film Festival. In recent years, MIR's productions were selected for a number of international film festivals including Cannes, Venezia, Locarno, IDFA and it's the first Italian company awarded a Focal Award, the British award for theatrically released documentaries.
